Kaske open house recalls earlier era
Historical society Hosts Santa in old-fashioned holiday celebration at Heritage Park
MUNSTER | The Munster Historical Society is sponsoring its annual holiday candlelight open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
This old-fashioned, family-oriented event features a visit by Santa Claus to the historical 1910 Kaske House in the Munster History Museum at Heritage Park.
This year's open house features a 1912 pre-Titanic-era family holiday celebration at the Kaske House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Decorated with a Christmas tree in every room, the charming parlor, set with Jacob Munster family furniture, is perfect for taking fireside photos with Santa. Cookies, hot chocolate and snowman treats will be served at no charge.
The public is welcome.
Parking is available at the Munster school administration building south of Ridge Road on the west side of Columbia Avenue (behind Bieker Woods).
The Kaske House, 1154 Ridge Road, at the corner of Ridge Road and Columbia Avenue, is just a short walk north on the east side of Columbia to the candlelit brick entryway to Heritage Park. For more event information, visit www.munsterhistory.org.
